Another big brand works with LEGO bricks to create a whole new concept. Anyone who works with LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods and knows Strategic Play Global probably knows about our work with large companies. We worked with P&G—the largest packaged goods company in the world—and used LSP to create product offerings like Swiffer. We have also worked with municipalities like the City of Surrey to reduce the effects of poverty. But here’s a new twist, (see video below). In 2016, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) partnered with LEGO Technic to create a new concept for their Wheel Loader ZEUX.
The twist? They worked with children to help design a new model that will move earth. The children may have thought they were working in partnership with the company to design a toy, but in fact, their creative genius was being used to prototype a future construction vehicle. The children came up with some excellent ideas such as a mapping drone for navigation and camera arm to avoid obstacles.
Playing with LEGO® bricks and using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method approach to prototype everything from service to product design to business models to strategy makes excellent sense. Including children or other user groups, like customers and end users, adds just one more strategic element to the process.
