Strategic Play Global Sponsors EPIC International Summit in Santa Barbara
We were thrilled to sponsor this year's EPIC International Summit at the beautiful Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California in September 2024. The event was a true success, thanks to the outstanding efforts of Dr. Steve Ralph Jr. and his talented team, who created an unforgettable experience for all participants.
The energy and engagement from the amazing attendees made this summit one to remember. At Strategic Play Global, we were proud to attend in full force and contribute to the dynamic discussions with two unique breakout sessions. Along with Dr. Ralph, seven additional members of the team joined us: Van Lai-DuMone, from California; Sven Poguntke, from Germany; Kari Campos, from Michigan; Sarah D. Moyle, from Oregon; Col. Jason “TOGA” Trew (retired), from New Orleans; and Tjitze “TJ” Postma, from the Netherlands. They all volunteered and participated, along with our Strategic Play Podcast cohost, Mark Millhone from Colorado. And fun fact: Many of our Strategic Play family of facilitators where also in attendance, giving keynotes, sitting on panels, and hosting lunch connections, including Paul Propster from NASA and Gillian Ruan from Mattel.
Our first session, Elements: The Nature of Innovative Leadership, was a 90-minute interactive workshop where participants used LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods to build 3D representations of their understanding of leadership. Using a Gestalt approach, we guided attendees through a creative exploration of what leadership means to them, sparking new insights and perspectives. We also demonstrated the leadership elements using the four seasons of innovation and nine leaderships styles—Water, Wood, Earth, Light, Fire, Thunder, Air, Moon, and the North Star.
Our second session was a deeper dive into the power of play. Over the course of three hours, participants explored their unique playstyles and Playsonality™ through passion and flow charts. This hands-on workshop provided a space for attendees to reconnect with their inner sense of play, offering new ways to bring creativity and joy into their professional and personal lives. This was a playful deep dive into our authentic selves along with an analysis of how we can learn more from our inner hidden lives of play.
We are honored to have been a part of such an inspiring summit and look forward to future collaborations with EPIC International and the wonderful community they foster. Here's to continuing the journey of innovative leadership and the transformative power of play!
