Last week, we were saddened to learn the great Mihály Csikszentmihályi passed away. All of us in the Strategic Play community owe a debt of gratitude to this man. His work on flow theory played a critical role in the development of the LSP process. As the theory goes, we learn best when we are in the zone. When we enjoy a process we are more committed, our concentration is stronger, and we think faster, allowing us to learn more quickly.
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® has altered the path of our lives in ways we never could have imagined. Who would have thought one could make a living playing with LEGO and simultaneously pave the way for meaningful change? We’ve worked with organizations of all varieties, and addressed serious issues including bullying, poverty reduction, and homelessness.
Let’s take some time to reflect on how Mihály Csikszentmihályi’s research has impacted us and those we work with. We’ll leave you with his 2004 Ted Talk on flow.
